The school is terrible, and sex crimes are rampant
Star Rating - 9/5/2018
I've lived here for six years now, since I was fifteen. The only school is small: I graduated in a class of somewhere around 50, I believe. The most interesting thing about that is that when I started attending my freshman year we were a class of 72. Most who dropped out were girls who got pregnant. Not only is sex-ed severely lacking at Jay high school, there's actually a disproportionately large number of predators in this town. I don't know more than a handful of women who weren't sexually assaulted before they were 18. The whole school was; last time I checked; deeply religious. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, except that the excess of Christianity made most of the staff blind to blatant violations of other's freedom of religion. I was ousted, hated, and bullied for refusing to let my teacher force me to watch a hate-based "Christian" movie. I was raised as a Jehovah's witnesses until I was thirteen. I may have left my faith for personal reasons, but the kind of people that God tells us to be in the bible is so much more than the petty, hateful, careless attitudes of all of the people in this town. It runs purely on the suffering of it's poorest citizens, while simultaneously telling them they are unwelcome.

I have lived in Jay for over 20 years, you are wrong. Jay is a quiet little small town with racial diversity. The school is highly sought after as crime and drugs are not an issue. The school has more that one teacher that has won teacher of the year for the state of Florida. It is hard or next to impossible to find a rental in Jay. The school is highly sought after because it is such a great school.
