Truth about IT City or New Nashville
Star Rating - 6/9/2017
First thank you Sperling’s Best Places for all your info. I have decided my post-retirement career/retirement city and state! I did check other sources and got in touch with people living in areas and ordered relocation info packets to follow-up to each city/state as mentioned in Town Hall meeting.

Alas, greater Nashville/TN did not even have a chance. Reasons and the following truths hurt but needs to be stated why Greater Nashville/Tennessee lost:

Frankly tired of the ‘driving while single female’. This includes Sumner Co where I relocated after being told by Metro Nashville PD they would not help regarding my stalker since no children/or intimate with him (Nashville PD words not mine). So far as I can tell, this is a State problem as well. Yes folks you can tell by tags who newcomers are: examples: older tag 123DDD or DDD377, new tags have 1A37A1 or A1371A. Real easy to spot the older tags. The cops check you out driving toward and passing then turn around. So for us older timers we hate having to go anywhere.

Hate toward (lived in Nashville about 60 years; enough is enough of this behavior) single women is scary in Tennessee. Bad policing plain and simple boys/girls plan and simple for single women. Again, this only applied to the single females other groups are not affected.

Another example of how bad it is in Nashville, I came home the other night to my gated apartment community being overrun by drug dealers. I just ran and hoped I could get to inside my apartment before something happened to me since I know Metro Nashville does not answer a call for help because of my single status. Other single females have been told the same. Don’t call us we will not come to help you.

I do have a funny story regarding Metro Nashville PD. Was returning my library books one Sunday morning after I got off work and Metro PD tried to block me from leaving after I put my books in the bin. Just drove around them and gave them dirty looks meaning you kids are too weird for words-rather sad but funny at the same time, ah the newer generation continues harassment of single women. I’m petit so I have to get out of my car at drive-ups; my arms just don’t reach that far to bins or ATMs.

The one GOOD thing I can say about the whole area is for the others served in Tennessee/greater Nashville, Metro PD puts their hearts into those cases. I know friends who had abuse by husbands/boyfriends and Metro Nashville went out of their way on the cases. Kids in trouble they worked with them. Friends caught DUI/drugs worked with them as well for rehab. Instead of complaining other groups should say Thank You to the cops for helping them in their time of need.

Now to the money concerns:
New projects that do not benefit me specifically: Close to 1) 477 million for the rehab of Titans/Predators stadium/arena. Both of these teams were promised by the ex-mayor/governor who brought them into town that they would generate revenue that Metro Nashville’s support would grow smaller; 2) This same ex-mayor/governor stated we did not need to redo our roads for future growth-we were dumb Southerners’? I remember him say this on tape somewhere, just man up and stop blaming everyone else for your wrong decisions; 3) Also, if remember from budget correctly from new mayor two more practice facilities for Predators – how many does this team need? 4) Forty member council about to give themselves a 54% raise – another raise? 5) Six million transit plan that will never benefit me – if I stay I’ll be overworked and dead. On and on with everything the newcomers want, bike lanes that have narrowed streets to dangerous level, public works trying to repair streets, so much so few employees/budget for infrastructure.

Most historical buildings are demolished. FAKE everything now for newcomers wants/needs. Before the real Nashville starting being demolished in the 1990s Nashville did have a quirky historic atmosphere and vibe.

What will Nashville not get from me starting in a few months? Pension and working for about twenty years more, 401s and revenue that would have been generated from my spending and taxes (both federal/state). From the list above you will need every cent you can get for ‘improvements’ for the newcomers.

I do wish all the negative newcomers who have moved into the Nashville area since the mid-1990s good luck. Nashville is about 99% transplants and 1% long term residents. That is why no Southern Charm is felt in Nashville. Newcomers doing the complaining are the problem with the “New Nashville or IT City” as the newcomers call Nashville now.

The one thing I can say is that I am SMILING while I write this, congratulations to my future home city/state. VERY safe and welcoming city, good infrastructure, a little higher in cost of living, still I will be able to go to parades, farmers market, etc. and get on their greenway and be safe taking simple precautions and no advanced weapons needed to protect myself. I’m taking my historic quirky vibe to my new HOME.

she speaks truth. If you are planning to move here look to the outside areas. Nashville police are not the best outside of crowd control. Few people who have excelled at their chosen fields live in Nashville. We all live in the sounding counties. South of Nashville is where most normal people to successful people live. Nashville its self is a booming area built for the tourism industry , There are loads of new high rise condos built but dnt be fooled. They are mostly University or Medical professional folks who need to be close to the many hospitals. Most are owned by people like myself as an investment and leased out. It is a Nashvagas environment . Davison county is mainly for business. Southern Hospitality is all but gone. We are very friendly BUT don't mistake that for anything other than what it is. I have had to allow a number of folks stay with me simply because the got here and it ate them alive. If you come for a party this is your town. If you are looking to move here and start a life. Look to areas on the cusp of the city. If you are a new artist moving here save your money. living close to music row will not help you at all. Thats a money trap lot's of newbees fall into. Have a safe car and live where you are safe and sane. Drive in.( Oh yes and Parking is becoming a real bitch). No one in the industry lives in Nashville proper. move to south Nash and Williamson County. It safe and where most of us who have done well for ourselves live. You will be closer to the business there.
