Review of Lake Havasu City, Arizona

Great Place to live! But maybe not for everyone!
Star Rating - 3/6/2021
My wife and I purchased last year for a few reasons: we got tired of the people in California; city living and crime. Not trying to insult anyone just true.

As we started to spend time here we noticed how everyone was friendly and courteous! What a concept! And when you drive, no one is flipping you off, trying to start a fight, or spitting on your car! People actually wave you on so you can go through an intersection before they do. And people actual talk to one another and people actually hold the door open for you even it you are 20+ feet from the door when they see you coming! And there is no crime! Wow, why would you want to live here?

Is it hot, yes starting in April it starts getting up in the 80's. Then in the summer it's very hot, 100-110 is pretty common, but its so dry you aren't effected like you would be in other places. Winter is gorgeous! Not freezing and that's why snowbirds come here! They know what cold is all about. It also gets windy in the winter, 20-30 mph gusts happens every few weeks. Rain...what's that?

Real estate prices are going up, a lot, because it's a great place!

Water sports, dirt biking, off-roading and hiking are all here! Want to drive your Razr to town, no problem, they're everywhere! And if you like hot rods, come downtown on Thursday afternoons there 50-100 cars brought by locals coming out to chat!

And the police....they're great. Treat them with respect, you'll get respect. Treat them like crap and one of the locals may take offense...watch out. And if you want to come and demonstrate liberal ideas, I heard and saw videos that there were a lot of local residents that came to the business district Summer 2020 to defend the businesses when a large demonstration was planned by outsiders that were bussed in. It ended very peacefully as the demonstrators were surprised by what they were greeted with.

And yes it's VERY CONSERVATIVE! 78-79% of voters voted for Trump in 2020! don't believe all the blue state stuff. And if the US or Trump flags offend you DON'T MOVE HERE, you'd have a conniption! There everywhere! And lets not forget guns! Yes there are a lot of gun folks! That's why there's very little crime...if you think you'd like to rob someone, think again, you'll likely be met with a gun, that's why there's so little crime, not all criminals are stupid! There is some petty theft, but no major assaults, murders, etc, etc.

Shopping, there's plenty of grocery (Safeway, Albertsons and Dollar General options. Home Depot and Lowes and two Ace hardware stores are here.

I agree Tom. Lake Havasu is a great place. We absolutely LOVE it here. Lot's of guns equals very low crime. And the real estate prices are going up like a rocket ship on autopilot to the Moon! Our home has gone up over $115,000.00 in just under 18 months. Compare that to the Midwest where high property taxes, bankrupt school systems, and a crumbling infrastructure have sent prices falling. Not to mention disappearing jobs and horrible weather. We're so glad to be out of there!

Ok, yes Az is great for climate and low crime and high test scores nationally for schools. I lived in Az 20yrs, and never had opportunity to visit Lake Havasu City. Would love to call this place home again. Hope it stays the same! Great place, like heaven..
