Review of Salida, Colorado

About Salida's wind and weather.
Star Rating - 6/15/2007
The weather in the summer is wonderful, it will reach the low to mid 90's but there is absolutely no humidity, you can run around all day and not break a sweat. There is a wind that pops up in the summer every day, it seems to arrive around 2 PM and last for about 2 hours. I don't remember this wind being an every day thing in the fall, but with the fall arrives the first snows. Salida is one of those places that once a year you will be hit with a snow storm that will last over a day and dump a good 18 inches on the town. In general the continental divide takes most of the snow and the town gets some left overs. It snows often durring the winter but ususally its less then half a foot at a time, and unlike the east coast, the snow in Salida is a nice powder. Since it is dry up there, you do not feel the cold or the heat the same way that you would in an average place. Once walking to work I begain to notice that my face was starting to hurt a bit, when I got downtown and saw the bank clock, it said that it was -5 outside. If it was -5 on the east coast, believe me, you would really feel it.
