Review of New City, New York

Co-op City in the Northeast Bronx
Star Rating - 6/8/2006
Our family has lived here for 18 yrs. This community consist of 35 sky scrapers,55,000 cooperators. Playgrounds,3 interior shopping centers and 2 exterior. The public schools need improvement(six), many private ones available by bus. This is a area that is congested by alot of traffic, next to I-95. Subsidized by state, so very affordable. About $22,000 for equity Approx. $1000 for 3 bdrm apt rent. High ceilings, lg rms, laundryrm discount.elec&gas, airconditing included. most maint included. Substidized & sevices for elderly and good for handicapped These Asso.on site. Medical throughout comm. Community Newspapers wkly. If you are just starting out this place is ok,crime is a concern. There isn't enough consideration for our youth. Daycare is available,After school, and summer camps for a price.
Not enough services for teens.Public Trans bus $2.00, free transfere to subway.Express bus $7.oneway to Manhattan. Orchard Beach 20min away by car or bus. Nice parks in general area, Movie house, etc. We were planning to move out as soon as my husband retires, but after writting this I wonder if we should. But seriously, there are many concerns with this place, such as many, always ongoing repairs and endless promises for improvements. I hope this helps someone.
