Review of Fulton, New York

Once a nice place
Star Rating - 9/8/2009
I grew up and attended school in Fulton from 1962 to late 1970's.
It was a great place to live but the businesses eventually died off and unemployment became high. In mid-70's Miller Brewery provided many with an excellent salary but most of their employees lived elsewheres not in Fulton. The City and School budgets saw deficits, State and Federal Aid and other fundings declined.
This had an impact on Fulton's future and sustaining its population throughout the 1980's to present (2009) it has become a poor and poverish community in Oswego County. It's sad that Fulton has endured harsh times with the departure of Nestles. Once a nice place to live is now a nightmare.
I didn't raise my family there because Fulton provided little in supporting family life. The people maybe wonderful but there isn't anything left today. Even Lee-Memorial Hospital has lost its battle. I loved Woolworths, Fosters, Montgomery Wards, the old movie theathre (which Fulton hasn't had for decades. I hope that many Landmarks and Historic sites will remain so one day my great grandchildren will visit and know of Fulton's history.
I'd like to see Fulton restored to its glory days as mentioned that during the Great Depression of the 1930's it was prosperous and survived the times.
