Review of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico

I've lived here 10 years and was recently thinking about adding to my small rental portfolio...then I saw an episode of Island Life and Hawaii Life and remembered how much I miss all the greenery of those places and places like Key West and Costa Rica. More research on places I can actually AFFORD to move to (e.g. Panama City, FL) and I find that our weather is just as nice--more sunny days and reasonable highs and lows, population density is much lower (which I like), and the cost of living is better. Plus we have the hot springs year-round, the largest lake in the state, the Rio Grande to float down in the summer, and a few good restaurants to enjoy. I know I don't want to worry about getting a lot of snow, and I really appreciate sunshine. Add to that a bowling alley and movie theater and for a town of under 7K, it's not bad if you aren't looking for a lot of nightlife (which I'm not anymore : ). No place is perfect (As much as I love Key West, it is pretty darn hot and humid in August and the crowds are getting bad a lot of the year.) It's a big retirement community and there is plenty to do during the day...very inexpensive community pool, table tennis tournaments, once a month "Art Hop", and more if you look for it. If you have high income, of course your options are always better, but this isn't a bad little retirement community...and the people are real friendly. Peace out...
