Taxes and Cost of Living Kills Retirees

I have lived here, in retirement, for 5 years. Came from Dallas. We are senior citizens and live on a set budget. Although I consider myself wealthy, I have seen my worth decrease in the last 5 years, since moving here, because of the taxes and overall cost of living ... astronomical, as compared to Texas. I plan to sell my house this summer, just outside of Asheville, and move back to Texas where money goes allot further. Plus, these Democrats living here are nuts!

just what Asheville needs..another old Boomer guy with the wife in tow looking for a 20 cent on the dollar place to live. "I've seen my worth decrease"....sad way to see yourself and life in your final years...Try Lubbock Tx. It's dusty, and stark and dry, but cheap. Careful the rolling tumbleweed don't take out a headlight.

You summed it up. All of the westerners and New Floridians have turned it blue and the crime and taxes have followed the trend of what happens when a city goes that direction. Time to flee.

The area, most especially Asheville, is ridiculously gerrymandered. Mark Meadows "won" Asheville area, District 11 strictly because of gerrymandering. Meadows is a worthless Republican. This area IS Republican, not Democratic and it shows.
