Tiffany in Philly~ this comment is for you! I could not find a way to reply to your comment, because yours was actually a reply to KM above~ so I hope you get this. I have to say, you will not be disappointed if you move here- I can almost promise! It is an amazing, friendly, inexpensive, peaceful place to be and I have lived in 4 different states, both big cities & small towns. Alamogordo is THE BEST place I've ever lived. Plus, if you want a bigger city once in awhile, Las Cruces is an hour away to the west, and El Paso TX is an hour & a half the other way. Not to mention, Cloudcroft & Ruidoso, which are awesome little resort type towns a bit further up the mountain. Everything you need is here, parks, trails, schools, shopping, hospital, doctors, dentists, etc. if you want to buy a house, you can still do so for waaaay less than anywhere else, rents are great too. We live in a huge 3 bdrm, 2 bath house, up on the hill, on 2 acres that is beautiful. It's $1,100 a month, but most rents are much less. For instance, our daughter & grandson just moved into a 2 brm for $350 a month! Utilities are reasonable, people are kind, but not nosy, and the thrift stores are great. There's also the usual stores & restaurants WalMart/Ross/Penney's/Lowe's/Home Depot/Albertson's as well as specialty shops & such. The White Sands dunes are an absolute blast, all year 'round, never really gets too cold in winter or hot for very long in summer. Wish I had space to tell you more, but they're cutting me off. wE came here for a visit, to check it out, a few months before deciding~ highly recommend, if you can. But if not, I would feel good about saying, come anyway- move here. Not sure of your financial/job situation- lots of people commute to Las Cruces, but lots work here in town too- or out on the base, Holloman Air Force Base. Anyhow, check out all the photos, videos and reviews you can find online, then just go for it. Hope this helps some, hope it all works out for you, whatever you decide=) ~Samantha
