The only good thing that can be said for this place is low crime rate.

Tiffany in Philly~ this comment is for you! I could not find a way to reply to your comment, because yours was actually a reply to KM above~ so I hope you get this. I have to say, you will not be disappointed if you move here- I can almost promise! It is an amazing, friendly, inexpensive, peaceful place to be and I have lived in 4 different states, both big cities & small towns. Alamogordo is THE BEST place I've ever lived. Plus, if you want a bigger city once in awhile, Las Cruces is an hour away to the west, and El Paso TX is an hour & a half the other way. Not to mention, Cloudcroft & Ruidoso, which are awesome little resort type towns a bit further up the mountain. Everything you need is here, parks, trails, schools, shopping, hospital, doctors, dentists, etc. if you want to buy a house, you can still do so for waaaay less than anywhere else, rents are great too. We live in a huge 3 bdrm, 2 bath house, up on the hill, on 2 acres that is beautiful. It's $1,100 a month, but most rents are much less. For instance, our daughter & grandson just moved into a 2 brm for $350 a month! Utilities are reasonable, people are kind, but not nosy, and the thrift stores are great. There's also the usual stores & restaurants WalMart/Ross/Penney's/Lowe's/Home Depot/Albertson's as well as specialty shops & such. The White Sands dunes are an absolute blast, all year 'round, never really gets too cold in winter or hot for very long in summer. Wish I had space to tell you more, but they're cutting me off. wE came here for a visit, to check it out, a few months before deciding~ highly recommend, if you can. But if not, I would feel good about saying, come anyway- move here. Not sure of your financial/job situation- lots of people commute to Las Cruces, but lots work here in town too- or out on the base, Holloman Air Force Base. Anyhow, check out all the photos, videos and reviews you can find online, then just go for it. Hope this helps some, hope it all works out for you, whatever you decide=) ~Samantha

That’s great that they have low crime rate. But I’m in Philadelphia PA and I lived here all my life and I honestly hate it. I hate the big city, I always longed for a small town or the country even. I pay $1,000 a month for a very small two bedroom. No yard no garage nothing. And I’m researching homes in Alamogordo, NM and I see a lot of very big homes to rent with garages and huge yards and I so wanna get out of Philly. Can u tell me the pros and cons of living there? It’ll be extremely helpful for me. I appreciate it :)
