Your post suggesting Nucla is a terrible place exhibits the same mentality for which you condemn it. That way of thinking contributes to the stagnation of modernization and technology in Nucla by suggesting no one visit or live there.
Without residents there will be no commerce. Without commerce no jobs and without jobs no economy. Unemployment will create desperation and undesirable means by which people will use to survive.
Nucla is a hidden gem. It's beautiful location with wild life and mountains to one side and red rocks and indian ruins on the other give it an ideal year round climate and a sanctuary for nature enthusiasts to enjoy skiing, hiking, mountain biking, fishing, boating, camping etc...
The downfall being that is very expensive to live in Nucla because there are so few services. Lack of services due to loss of funding, stemming from huge reductions in population keeps Nucla from acquiring modern advancements which is a big selling point to anyone who wants to live off the grid or is attracted to the rugged, rural and unique aspect of live and let live
