Review of Nashua, New Hampshire

no reason to live here. it's pretty rough actuall

I lived here for three years when I worked for a major defense contractor. since that time i have been in gainesville, FL (an amazing place) and nowhere, Taiwan (about the same as Nashua). Nashua is a place where you will see a lot of potholes and dirty pavement, and trashy people smoking outside there dilapidated buildings. It's very gritty, it's very lower class, MAYBE lower middle. And I hate sounding like a classist, but it's a trashy town. no one takes pride in their property, they let it fall apart. No one takes pride in the city, that falls apart too. the weather is awful, as it is in most of NH. 6 months of bitter cold, 3 months of horrible heat, and then a pretty nice autumn which is much too short. There is not much to do outside. There is a bike trail, but it's not very long, and it's hard to get to from the city center. Traffic is horrible for such a small town too, and its horrible alll day. There seem to be a lot of people unemployed that drive around all day on the horrendously inadequate road and bridge system.

I believe part of this actually. Its surprising that Nashua for such a low violent crime rate does have all these things. I'd say overall Nashua is good but my main concern would be the higher income hoity toity types and the tech corridor compromising the area. I wouldn't say its rough really but it looks gritty for sure, mediocre restaurants overall, the food is not way too much to be desired.. a lot of chain restaurants. Its things like that more than the roughness factor of Nashua. I could picture a derelict element there though a bit further than where people shop. Nashua and Manchester both are not much to be desired as well. I learned that I don't want to live in either town. I live in Brookline at this time though and while its an ok town, you can get cabin fever out here so if you're not in Nashua you still may have a few complaints about NH. The weather is very depressing this winter actually. I lived in FL and for its own reasons I didn't like it especially Largo/St Pete. Largo at the very least I thought was as trashy as you said Nashua is with a smaller nothing to it downtown. I'd say Nashua is better than there anyhow but ya, Nashua is getting very expensive, people are snooty, not the friendliest and worse when you go more further up I find. Nashua isn't the unfriendliest or snobbiest, but again it could still be better socially I'd say.

Ross, I am guessing you lived in another city named Nashua. I lived in that City for 5 years and then had to move to FL for my job. I am finally able to move back and can not wait. We never worried about locking our door like in FL for Nashua has one of the lowest crime rates in America. Also, the nicest people you would ever meet. The summers were mild unlike Florida and great colors in the fall. It is true that you get 5 months of cold weather with snow during 3 of them but I miss the snow living in FL for the past 10 years. I am as happy moving back to Nashua as you may have been moving out.
