Review of Louisville, Kentucky

Where do I begin. This city will tax you to death. Forbes recently listed Louisville near the top of worst taxed cities in America...gotta love Liberalism. The schools rank near the bottom in all academic areas. I believe 90% of Jefferson county schools received failing marks. The roads are falling apart. A brand new sports stadium that is financially broke. An uneducated workforce. If you plan on a career either work for Ford, Humana, or UPS, otherwise find work for $10 hr with factory shipping jobs or fast food restaurant employment is all you will find....see the comment about uneducated workforce. If you plan on driving to a restaurant or park, plan on packing a cooler for a day trip because the city is so spread out. Gas prices and gas taxes are above the nation average. Poor city mgmt and a terrible mayor. No activities or events that a city of roughly 1 million should provide. Nearly everybody is FAT. No pro sports teams. A lot of alcoholics, smokers, and pill poppers. People are very unattractive in Louisville. The west side of town is reminiscent of that of Detroit. The #1 city in America for allergies and sinus problems. No culture, mostly white and black people reside here, therefore, fast food options such as taco bell and fazoli's is what this city considers ethnic cuisine. Housing market is questionable. Now let me talk about weather, tornado sirens go off about once a week. Torrential rainstorms similar to a typhoons. Wind damage is common. Ice storms. And the occasional flooding. This is just one man's opinion, and have based all of my comments off of the 5 years of residing here. There could be cities worse off than Louisville, but the comments mentioned above are derived from my comparisons to other cities I have previously resided.

Let me say - I'm not crazy about this part of the country and am no cheerleader for Louisville. But Delphine is not describing this city. Temps in the summer are not excessive, and a few bouts of in the 90s is normal. When it's humid, it's dreadful, but the temperatures themselves are seldom if ever in the trip-digits. Gardens thrive, though in drought years you have to water them. Tornadoes all come with warnings, and rarely do damage to Louisville Metro. A few miles north in Southern Indiana they get nailed pretty regularly. It storms in the spring. It's the midwest, and that happens. Water quality is fantastic, among the highest rated in the country. Air quality - some hot muggy days will have a quality warning, but it's not frequent nor is it anything like every day throughout the summer. (Is she in Louisville?) Allergies -if you're at all prone you will suffer. It is a terrible place for pollen, ragweed, etc. True enough, your upper and lower respiratory systems take a hit for living here. Rubbertown is going through a mess right now for sure, and the clean up will be expensive and awful. It is in one small part of the metro, and is not indicative of the majority of the region.
