San Antonio....Fat, Stupid People. Not Good
Star Rating - 3/30/2019
I read a review on here that reminded me of my situation and experience with San Antonio. It makes you realize that its really not just you that it’s the people and the city. So I will expand on what they said.

I used to live in San Antonio around 9 years ago and moved out of there due to lack of career options here. It seems like people in San Antonio think USAA or working at HEB for 30 years is a career. I moved to another state and I was able to quickly advance in a corporate setting.

In San Antonio you cannot advance unless you were born and raised there. You will ALWAYS be looked at as an outsider. People are closed minded and fearful of anyone educated beyond high school.

I moved back there for 7 months. I came back due to the fact housing costs were ok and thought it might be a good idea to buy a home and live there and maybe start a business . WRONG!

People in San Antonio have become even more ghetto than before. (The politicians actually spread the ghetto all over town via section 8 and mixed income living that they dispersed creating heavy crime on sides of town that were previously safe….how’s that “income equality working for ya now)?

• Rude people everywhere

• Most people are poor and on welfare (Its fact I saw it all the time, so don’t say otherwise)

• No common sense and confrontational people everywhere.

• San Antonio I famous for wrong way and drunk driving. You are very likely to be in hit and run or hit by a drunk driver in San Antonio.

• Crime has spiked, we are talking senseless murders over nothing, drug use like meth and heroin taking the city over, store robberies, home invasions and serious crimes like that.

• Losers with no jobs committing crimes all day. EVERY SINGLE DAY in news you can read about a high speed chase, killing, stabbing, drug crime and similar.

• Almost everyone has a DUI and arrest record along with tattoos.

• Flaky people, they don’t keep appointments and expect you to go around their drinking, eating schedules.

• A lot of single mothers and deadbeat fathers who live a welfare lifestyle and hate on anyone who has a career and will try to start trouble for no reason other than they are jealous.

• There is nothing to do in San Antonio unless you like to get drunk every day or eat all day and get fat and go shopping all day like a moron at the endless amount of cookie cutter shopping centers

Long story short I left that doomed city and asked for my job back (Thankfully I was able to get it and moved back) We cut our losses and now we are very happy where we live now and are glad to pay higher bills just so we don’t have to look at those ghetto criminal trash that majority of San Antonio citizens are.

If you are a good person, have a family and want your kids to grow up to be somebody and not grow up to be a hood rat loser on welfare with 6 kids, or if you appreciate people who are polite and kind then DO NOT move to San Antonio.

If you currently live in San Antonio and are a decent person and have values then get out of there before you waste your years trying to be successful in a city of failures who will resent you for your positive traits. If you stay there too long you will become just as fat and stupid as they are. Most people that move there and don’t leave end up fat within 6 months due to nothing to do there but eat, drink and be an a-hole.

You sound like a true racist hater like your whole review was targeting minority. I’m white and I’m offended by your comment which is by far not true at all

Your comment was over the top and hateful but somewhat true. As for me I came to San Antonio with the military in my 20's That being the age you are most social and like to party. I made tons of friends easily. I exited the military to go to school. Both tuition and housing was and is cheaper than the West coast so it was a no brainer to stay for awhile. I noticed the city was a bit backwards but it still had charm. Ive never seen so many thousands of people love each other anyplace other than Fiesta. It kind of ends there. As it turned out I realized all the friends I made were low achievers and were ok with that. I do not like them any less but I wanted more. I also gained a ton of weight and got out of shape eating tortilla and drinking beer and staying indoors in he a/c and I listened to locals make fun and put down Healthy California Mexican food. We'll thank you very much SA, now I have heart issues. Y'all are a Bad influence. I love to visit but will never live in that stifling heat and humidity ever again. But I still say; GO SPURS GO!

Love this! Agree with everything you said San Antonio is... The worst place to live and work. Low standard idiots that haven’t left their back yards. I’m paying double my rent now living in Austin but I’m also making the most money doing the same job. They have this pride and group mentality that is just beyond me. It’s a shit hole that I just love to shit on. And the people there are all fat old morons.

This comment is so on point. I was laughing my butt off reading it because well it’s true. I will try not to comment using points you already made because they echo mine. Ok so here’s my story. My family moved here in 1992 I estimate. My Dad was in the air force. When I was a little kid I felt like I didn’t quite belong here but being a little kid I couldn’t verbalize it or even recognize if I was just strange and just didn’t fit in. I went to middle school and high school here and felt weird. I didn’t feel any sort of belonging until I joined a dance school for several years. I also felt like I belonged in college. I found like minded people here and there instead of like never just out in public. Being in these two environments insulated me from how San Antonio really is though. I moved to several states before returning here for school. Big mistake. I stayed in Austin briefly before moving back to San Antonio for school and previously lived in those other states I mentioned. I didn’t feel as out of place or come across as much drama and misogyny as I do here in San Antonio. Being a partially Hispanic woman I felt like a second class citizen amongst other women of my race and men of my race even if they acted nice. It’s funny how I was more accepted by men and women of other races. I didn’t appreciate for example when there was an incident of sexual abuse at work and the lady who it happened to didn’t press charges because she was being unselfish and thought about the guys family and everyone else there just wanted to pretend it never happened. I was the only one who wanted to do anything about it and that’s just wrong. All of my coworkers and some of my superiors were trying to convince me not to do the right thing of reporting what happened to the proper authorities and get that guy rightfully fired. Instead they said if it happened again they would both be fired. That is just flat out unacceptable. All of my coworkers in that job and other jobs I had there just complained all the time about working but they had no problem picking up a pay check. I guess to them they didn’t aspire to much since the culture of San Antonio is getting drunk, gorge yourself with food, have lots of kids, live on welfare, give up on higher education, fight with your significant other, talk about it at work yet do nothing to fix your unhappy life, have low standards period, and go to sleep just surviving paycheck to paycheck rather than doing anything worthwhile with your life. I know this is not all San Antonio people but that is the majority of the people that I have witnessed here. Oh and if you are happy and have a good life they might say congrats good for you but deep inside they hate you or are jealous of you. I as an artist was disappointed with the quality of what people considered art. It was culturally based or a slight adeptation of previous famous artwork. I think the close mindedness is at work here even in creative ventures. He is right there really is nothing to do here except eat, get fat, do drugs, complain, cause drama, have low standards and expectations, and live for drama. I feel I am definitely done with this city. It’s definitely gone down hill. Oh and I concur with the drunk driving accidents because that happened to me at 1:30am after I dropped coworkers who were underage off after work. Oh yeah and after that accident my boss wanted me to comeback to work the second day after the accident after I even showed him pictures of my bleeding knee and bruising on my right side in the rib area. Another place allowed an a hole who drank coffee mixed with alcohol, had messy hair that looked like a birds nest or cob webs, smelled like B.O., yelled at several workers/the boss/ and the bosses son in front of customers, to work there. Oh and he was a manager too. All of the businesses I have worked for cut corners in regards to standards. They favor getting things done quickly than to do it right and wonder why they need to repair things later down the line. When I commented on a need standards I was laughed at though later down the line stores closed their doors or repairs were only done after threat of closure. I also find that there is definitely a group mentality here that makes no sense. If you disagree with people here you are seen as a troublemaker instead of realizing that it is a topic of discussion rather than an attack on them personally. It’s because they have immature, stupid, close minded, bipolar, and toxic mindsets where discussion and intellectualizing are frowned upon. I have decided that if this is what’s going on in the minds and the actions of people in this city then I am glad that I am leaving. Feels so good to finally be able to vent my frustrations but also to realize that I am finally after all of these painful years finally be free. Thank you commentor that I am replying to for having the stones to be as truthful as you were. Sorry the majority of people here would rather shoot you down rather than being intelligent enough to realize that people disagree all the time and there is nothing wrong with that. It’s part of being a human. Oh and in case someone wants to accuse me wrongfully that I am white (which is reverse discrimination) I am a half Hispanic woman.

Dude....you have some serious issues there....among them, being ignorant. I know, you're from the East Coast, and that's where your problem lies. Northeastern folks don't belong in the South. I'm sorry you couldn't manage to find a single thing to do here in SA, because honestly there's a lot to do. You have fishing, hunting, exploring the Caverns, SeaWorld, the Zoo, riding the many trails around the city, the numerous parks, tubing the river, Schlitterbaun.....and that's just a handful of things to do here. I'm sorry you couldn't adjust your thinking and couldn't find decent work here--there's tons of jobs here, hiring across the board. Hell, I managed to find work less than a month being here. My boy found his in less than 2 weeks. Now, depending on where you find your housing, yes, there are some pretty ghetto places. Places I wouldn't go without my weapon, or after dark. You'd be referring to the Southside or Westside of town. I was a housekeeper for well over a year, and I can tell you that there are literally TONS of great housing areas, just depends on your preference and whatnot. And it's no secret that folks down here love to eat. They love their tacos, Big Red, BBQ's, and chillin'. Most the year it's too damn HOT to be outside...unless you like heat stroke or heat exhaustion....I've had it, don't recommend it. So folks tend to stick indoors as much as possible in the hotter months. And by the way....people would KILL to have a career at USAA....some of us have been trying to get a foot in the door for well over a decade. Yes, it IS a career there. HEB...well that's just a Texas-thing. Not a fan of the place myself, but it's no different than Seattle's Safeway or QFC, or your local favorite store that you grew up on. My advice: stay out of the Southern states. They don't seem to suit you much. We're a different breed of people down here. Takes a special kind of person to be able to move down here and thrive...guess you're just not it. Have fun with those Noreaster's, I hear they're a witch! Meanwhile, I'll stay down here where it's warm and sunny most of the time....drinking my iced coffee, getting fat.....poppin' out more kids so I can stay home on this here welfare. Take care now, ya hear!?

You summed it up. I was born in SA and lived there for about 12 years. I left in 1997 and will never move back. The amount of ignorant demoCunts that infest that turd bowl is astounding. I don’t even bother going back to visit family in SA.

I've never lived in San Antonio so the day to day experiences are something I can't comment on. I did visit once for a about a day and had a good time. I didn't experience racism from anyone and found there was a lot to do, at least from a tourist perspective. There is Six Flags, Sea World, The Riverwalk, The Alamo, Ripley's etc. Not sure why the publisher said there is nothing to do. What are you looking for? Just my two cents.
