I believe that there are many words to describe Payson....but HIP is definitely not one of them! Payson is a very conservative community with very little in the way of arts and culture. I can fairly say that there a handful of hip people, but for the most part you will find cowboys and wrangler jeans the norm. And yes, there are a few art galleries to visit if you like western art or wood carvings. Other than that, I wouldn't put Payson on my list of places with must see art galleries. A town with virtually no shopping other than Walmart can't possibly attract "hip people". Take a look at the local restaurants, the most exotic being Thai! All that being said, if you are looking for gorgeous mountains, great outdoor activities, fabulous weather and friendly people, Payson should be at the top of your list!
