I have lived in Florida for 25 years and regret having ever moved here. Unfortunately, I now have roots and family here and I could not stand being away from them. However, if you have the choice, just say no! The cost of living is one of the highest around compared to the wages - which stink! Employers tend to have the attitude that they can hire a "retiree" at half the cost and they will work for very little - most are supplementing social security. Even for professionals, the pay stinks compared to the cost of living. So, unless money is not a concern, I wouldn't advise anyone to ever move to Florida. Just look around at the people - most have worried, hurried or just frowns on their faces. Southern hospitality does not exist here. Many just refer to Florida as the New York of the South. It's all about me and what I have or want.
