Review of Meridian, Idaho

Great place!

New to the area and so far we think it's a great place to live compared to Denver, where we moved from. Quality of life is so much better here! A lot less traffic than what we are used to and living on the outskirts is awesome! Close to everything but tucked away surrounded by farmland giving it a quiet rural feel. We got very lucky!

My boyfriend and I are thinking of moving to Meridian from Vail. Denver is not our cup of tea and the traffic is unbearable. Overcrowded. Thank you for your post. We will be taking a trip to Idaho and looking to hopefully settle in Meridian after ski season. The rent in Denver/Vail have become overpriced and the cost of living isn't the best with the wages in Vail. Thank you for your post.

Reply to Trisha/San Carlos, CA: I would recommend that you consider Moscow, ID. It's a smaller town compared to Meridian and has less traffic issues, so commuting time is less. Moscow is a college town (Univ of Idaho), so be prepared for more liberal politics. Rents are less than Meridian, but Moscow does get more snow in the winter (approx 40"). Oddly, the winters in Moscow have somewhat milder temps due to its lower elevation than Meridian (2200' vs 2600'). Hope this helps. Cheers.

I am trying to figure out where to move to in Idaho. I read here that rent in Boise is less than Meridian. That surprises me. Is that what you are seeing. I am looking for lower rent but don't want to live Nampa or Pocatello (which I hear is not too good). Also looking for place with employment opportunities close.
