Review of Nottingham, New Hampshire

a good place to live
Star Rating - 12/14/2011
I am a transplant from Massachusetts, now 15 years. I enjoy the country lifestyle, peaceful and quiet. Within 30 minutes there is Portsmouth, NH on the coast, beaches, good cafes, restaurants, nice little shops, and history, theatre, the cultural mecca etc.
Lots of lakes and ponds here for swimming, kayaking, just hanging out.
Boston is 90 minutes, driving a bit less, there is Amtrak and bus service two towns away.
University of New Hampshire is close by and has great college sports, hockey team, concerts classical and other performances.
Property taxes are a bit high, but there is no sales or state tax. So for being a bit out in the country, it is a good deal. People are generally nice. I miss public transportation, a bigger library, and a few other things. My commute to a job is 60 minutes each way, but as a counselor, the pay scale is very low in NH for LICSW, I don't know why, but it is. Can't think of someplace else where I would want to be year round.
