I lived in Schaumburg with my daughter for two years and went back and lived there for another couple of years. Yes, Schaumburg IL which is part of Cook County have higher taxes, but places like Chicago Heights, which is a far South suburban Cook County does not have great schools, As a matter of fact, the High School's swimming pool is closed and has been for over ten-yers. Whereas, Schaumburg High School has everything a student should want and is necessary to their development. They have archery, football, baseball, swimming, etc. So the high taxes they people complain about is to support the schools in upper-middle-class neighborhoods, that have everything vs. the poorer neighborhoods that have much less. So, as a black woman, I don't feel bad that Cook County taxes are 11%, which pays for the nice clean State-of-the-Art schools the white kids attend.
