Enjoy Troy!
Star Rating - 5/4/2009
We moved away from Troy to Orange County, CA, about seven months ago for my husband's job. I miss Troy very much. Over the past few decades, Troy has gotten a bad rap, but it is truly experiencing a renaissance. There are active community associations and an "Enjoy Troy" movement dedicated to revitalizing life in Troy, appreciating the arts, and supporting local businesses. We lived right downtown and could walk to the Farmer's Market, lots of little restaurants and shops, and my husband could walk 4 blocks to work. There are lots of families downtown, and the city has or is near any sort of shopping you could want, as well as activities in Albany. There are often events or festivals in Troy, the most famous of which is the Victorian Stroll at Christmas. We lived in an 1890s converted warehouse overlooking the Hudson, a few doors down from where The Night Before Christmas was first published. Founded in 1789, Troy is full of history and was even the home of the real Uncle Sam. Fairly sunny winters and a not-too-hot summer, a great local library, several colleges, great locally-owned shops, a fabulous farmer's market and low cost of living. Great place to live.

Hi There. Can you tell me, in general, the best parts of Troy to live in? It seems anything south of Hoosick Street is fine, but north of it is bad?
