more shopping center than a town

carmel has about 60 vacation homes and a dense cottage-y downtown. basically it is a tourist trap cental business district and a bunch of vacation rental homes. the beach is nice but the fog covers the place all summer. Think a mini-Monecito without the style and wealth so-cal affluence can bring. more a artist hippy base
