This is not an attractive or desirable place to live. We moved here in 2007, and frankly, we can't wait to move. Once we're close to break-even on our house or we work out a favorable rent situation, we're out of here.

The non-summer months are pleasant, but summer can be stifling though tolerable. The overall quality of life is fair-to-poor.

Not sure who is more eager to leave, my wife or me. If I don't keep moving as a topic of conversation, she might just leave on her own.

Hi, After reading your post, I really have no idea why you want to leave after 8 years. Could you please elaborate on what are the specific reasons you want to leave? Thanks

Being that I was born and raised here and have nearly 30 years of life experience living here I can tell you what you save in housing groceries and monthly utitles and other expenses you you will loose in salary, if your use to making anywhere between 60,000$$ to 80,000 a year you will expect to loose 30% mainly because everyone knows it's cheaper to live here so they use it as excuse to pay less $$$ even if your skills our experience call for more they honestly don't care , so another thing is education are state colleges are well funded but are local schools not so much so let's say your son and doughter are struggling in school don't expect much help from the school they will likey try and put your children in special education and put them months behind there peers which is not good , so don't let them do this hire a tutor which your really only good chance at a better education for your children, another thing depending on your job if it's closely within the city I suggest finding housing either west of town our midtown these areas are much better then most of the city core where drug activity and petty crimes occure I can't stress too you how shady it is in downtown alot homelessness and people with mental health issues roaming the streets at night so that area is a no go in my opinion, another thing lastly is jobs we have alot successful doctors lawyers and business men and women and some trades men but also a very high poverty rate of 24.5 % which obviously means there's alot struggling so do your research on what's good and bad here because not every job pays exactly that well.
