Portland gets MY 5-Star Review! GREAT city!

After living in Texas hell for 20 years I moved to Portland, Oregon. It felt like I moved to heaven. In comparison with where I lived in North Dallas, Portland is so beautiful! It’s friendlier, has better schools, much lower violent crime rates. Housing costs more, but the thousands of free amenities make up for it. Portland has a thriving music scene, tons of jobs, outstanding public transportation, great weather most of the time. It’s a friendlier place over all, with a much better quality of life.

I lived in Portland for 3 years and in Austin now for 1 year. The weather in Portland is horrendous, so horrendous that it makes Austin weather seem like a tropical paradise. Great weather, do you ever go outside???? Summers in Portland are hot & humid, then from October to May it is over cast, you never see the sun and rains day after day after day, and then you get the occasional massive snow dump. The long over cast winters make everyone depressed, and on anti- depressants to deal with the SADS. Other than that PDX is a beautiful fun progressive and awesome city, full of lovely people, tons of things to do with a great food scene.

You think Portland is humid and you live in Austin? I live in Portland and have for 11 years, I am visiting Connecticut now where I lived for 30 years and this Saturday it will be 105 with dewpoint (humidity) levels making it feel like 114. Have to disagree with you on Portland being hot and humid. Summers are beautiful in Portland, I just wished they lasted longer because the 8-9 months of soft rain can wear on you without having a car.
