Plan on Living and Working in Lubbock

Just wondering if anyone can give me some suggestions? I plan on retiring in Lubbock,Texas. I plan on renting. Where would be the best area for my family to live? What are the best elementary schools? Thanks!

Friendship is considered one of the best schools..however Lubbock High wins alot of awards (Buddy Holly went to lubbock high)...The places to avoid is anywhere east of I27, anywhere around tech (unless you like living around college kids) and east of Quaker and north of 25th street...
