Review of Dav,

What's Davie FL like?
Star Rating - 4/5/2008
Davie 20 years ago was sleepier and a 'cowboy' oriented small town. By 2008 the individual character is eroding as Ft Lauderdale and other fast growing nearby towns surround it. The KKK used to hold sway here but the multiracial nature of Davie is much more obvious. The weather is fine, the schools are very underfunded, Davie's population is youngish and mixed with families and retirees. Traffic is becoming a nuisance but that's true everywhere nowadays. Except for hurricane possibilities (Katrina blew through here first before going over to New Orleans in 2005, and Wilma two months later devastated the place), you feel comfortable and secure. It's becoming almost cosmopolitan in fact, thanks to rock concerts, rodeos, opera, the Everglades and water sports continuously offered within a 5-10 mile radius. The boom in housing, recently blunted by the housing bust (2008-9) has probably passed beyond Davie now and is 10-20 miles west, where things are rather upscale and more suburban.
