Your post is recent so I am wondering if there is still commuter traffic on the 4? I can't decide if living in Brentwood or Pleasant Hill/Walnut Creek is a better idea...when my job will be in Brentwood? Any insight would help cause I don't have anyone up in the area to get their advice from etc...thanks!

The commuter traffic is especially bad on 4 during commuter hours. It is best to travel on Sundays. They are widening 4 hoping to improve the traffic. If your job is in Brentwood, I suggest you live in Brentwood. Homes and rent cost less and Brentwood is a beautiful well-planned town. They have a wonderful shopping center, the Streets of Brentwood with great restaurants, shops, and the Rave Theater. The schools are very good too. They have a very bountiful Farmer's Market because of the farms bordering the east and south of the city. Finally, because the town is still small, the City Council Members, Mayor, and Police Chief are very accessible if you ever need to voice your concerns. It is further away from SF than Pleasant Hill/Walnut Creek. Good luck. LN
