Small town?!? Don't look now, but a population report only a few days ago shows that the City of Vancouver has reached a population of 191,000. The County (Clark) now consists of at least 500,000 people.
As for Vancouver being clean and safe, that's not true, either. There's trash everywhere, including all those nature sites, and crime has been on the rise for years. I, personally, have had two vehicles stolen - one right next to my house, and the other in an otherwise beautiful (except for all the trash) local park. I was also a victim of a separate theft at that same park. Both of my closest neighbors have been victims of theft, including not one but two cars belonging to one couple - at their house, no less.
Finally, unless one is financially well off, Vancouver is NOT a great place to retire. Housing prices have skyrocketed during the past several years, and even very small homes in bad neighborhoods are selling for at least $300 grand.
