I would disagree with the grey days. Colorado gets on average 250-300+ days of sunshine. Winters in the Front Range, Denver, C.Springs area do not last 6 months. We might have an occasional snowstorm in October but it melts quickly and is back to sunshine. Colorado is well known for it's wacky weather, but one constant is usually sunny winters. Highest suicide rates are in the RURAL mountain towns. Not Front Range, Denver, CSprings area. Other comments about homeless, crime, cost of living are fairly accurate.

The cold/gray winter is not the 'norm' and I am concerned though, that it is due to the pollution caused by so many more people!!!! and their cars! 21 years ago when I moved here, it was gorgeous year round, you got some monsoon like afternoons in late July/August where the rain would come for a few hours, cool things off, then it would be a nice evening, but never this cloudy every day with rain and gray!! Summers never got above 88 and winters were cold, yes, but if you were from the East coast, it was cake because it didn't come with the humidity, which cuts to the bone back there. Not sure about your bipolar/ADHD issue, but I do know, sleeping here has been worse for me than at lower altitudes, never heard the altitude had anything specific to do with it, but who knows... Denver has changed in 21 years, some things are better, but more I think that is worse unfortunately.

Honestly, I have no idea what you're talking about with many of the sentences in your answer, I feel bad for you. I've lived at some length in PA, MO, IL, MN, SD, WY, CA, Japan and Australia, visited tons more or have relatives in many other places, and this remains after 20 years the absolute best weather I've ever experienced. I have no clue what you're talking about with grey days all winter, was flabbergasted when I read that. This is in no way meant to be unkind, but honestly I think your mood may be darkening your perception of reality. We have over 2/3 of the year of bright sunny days. I have personally seen a snowstorm blow in on Tuesday then been out playing touch football in shorts and a Tshirt on Thursday. One Xmas that's just what we did. It melts so fast it's ridiculous. Obviously you've never enjoyed a MN winter, where the exact same hunk of snow-ice is on the road in front of your house, and I do mean the EXACT same one, from Nov through April. Never happens here. Or when it gets 100 degrees below 0 wind chill and people's keys are snapping off in their car door locks. I've done both of those. Denver's traffic sucks now days, there's no denying that, and the kinds of drivers on the road suck too, I suspect it's the mixing pot from all over the place bringing them all together in one glorious traffic jam. But the other things you said, just wow, you are sooooo far off base in your assessment. I say this sincerely, you probably do want to go back to another place, this western big open sky just isn't for everyone, and you sound genuinely unhappy here.

With your wild mood swing from loving one place to hating its everything in a short period of time, the city you are currently yearning for (LA) could well become the next Denver. You are doing the right thing by seeking for treatment. What torments you seems to be from inside your head, not from where you happen to be.
