Review of Portland, Oregon

Really like overall, but definitely a few issues

I've lived in Portland for almost five years. I love the neighborhood feel where I live. There are regularly people out walking, biking, talking, and kids playing. On the bad side, I dislike the dark dreary winters, and I am saddened when I take walks at work (closer to downtown) and see homeless people everywhere, and their trash.

Dana, my son is moving to Portland Dec. 1st. He's 27 and wants to live near or in the downtown area. Can you tell me what neighborhood do you live in. I would love to know he's moving to a safe area. Or let me know what ones to avoid. Thanks.
