Review of Cameron Park, California

Cameron Park is a bit too far right for me
Star Rating - 8/31/2021
I have lived in Cameron Park on the south side of the freeway (Cameron Estates) for 14 years.

The winters are not extreme, but the town does get and an occasional dusting of snow in the winter. Be prepared for lots of rain between December and March. The spring is beautiful, and so is the fall. The summers are hot, but with air-conditioning, the weather is not an issue. Summer nights are warm and there is something magical about the sky, with such unique cloud formations and brilliant stars.

The negatives about Cameron Park are that, unfortunately, if you come from the “Bay Area” many of the locals are openly rude and hostile. The majority of the residents (60%) are Republicans, and a fringe minority are radical right-wing. The minority population of Democrats tend to keep a low profile and try not to upset the fringe radicals.

There is limited shopping in Cameron Park, but Folsom and El Dorado Town Center are within 10 miles.

There is no major hospital nearby, and I do not recommend Marshall hospital in Placerville. The closest major hospitals are in Folsom, Sacramento and Roseville.

If you are looking for an investment property, be prepared to barter, and be prepared to find “improvements” that do not meet building codes, and some that might be dangerous. Homes in this region do not sell quickly and may even stay on the market for a year or longer. Whatever you do, do not overpay to live here.
