We lived in a big house on the West Hill of Auburn and then moved to a small rambler amid the big houses on the East Hill of Auburn. So we've lived within the city of Auburn for a total of about 19 years. We think the population and traffic have increased the most over the last five years. There are more people and traffic moving in every day. It is being filled up with new construction. But Auburn still has open spaces. On the east hill there is a large area of land around GRCC college that will not be developed because it's owned by the Department of Natural Resources. The wooded trails there are nice for mountain biking or walking. The Green River runs through the middle of Auburn down in the valley and the White River cuts through the south end of the valley. There are nice parks to visit on the riversides.
Auburn's location provides easy access to HWY 18, HWY 167 and Interstate 5, Auburn is located about midway between Tacoma and Seattle downtown areas but Mt. Rainier National Park is close by as well as the local ski runs, mountain trails, lakes and the Sound. Mt. Rainier is our view when the mountain is out.
