Mindnumbing place to live
Star Rating - 4/15/2019
I lived here for about a year and I can't say many good things about it. I'll start with the positives, it has low crime rate and stores are all close by.
Negatives are the brutal winter, the lack of activities to do, that is of course if you're into ice fishing. That seems to be the only recommended activity to do here. The area is flat and has uninspiring scenery. There isn't many hiking areas or parks. There are no zoos, no aquariums, no museums, no cultural festivals and no night life. If you want to do any of that you have to either go to Winnipeg, Minneapolis, sometimes Fargo.
The people here are standoffish. They have a tendency to stare if you look exotic or somewhat off. It becomes clear after working amongst them that they dont take too kindly to outsiders. They'll put on a friendly face and be civil but will exclude you and even insult your intelligence in a passive agressive manner. Altru is a horrible example of this. They have a buddy system and if you report abuse to human resources they will turn it around on you. That leads me to my final reason why this isn't a great place to live. The only health system they have is Altru and because of the lack of competition they can get away with subpar service.
Overall, If you're into a completely quiet life, cold brutal weather, lack of 4 seasons, and you are white and from North Dakota then this place is for you. If not then this place is probably not for you.

Bro, this is a farm town and a COLLEGE TOWN! Also what did you expect? A city? Girl/Guy, its a FLAT land. Who said there would be anything exciting about this town? There is actually a lot to do here. You can ice skate, drive on the dirt roads and do burn outs the cops could care less they do be chill. There is a fair here every summer so there is some things. (Maybe not this summer because ya know its 2020 and Corona is messing us up). The only people WE DON'T like in this is town is people like you KAREN. I will have to agree with the fact of Altru because everyone in this town doesn't like Altru, they suck so you either go to east grand forks or die no other option. (imma be honest here about that one) I will also agree about the shopping portion like malls. We don't have a good mall because the people that own it are stupid and moved to Florida and decided not to sell it to someone who lives in this town. If you call it "cold brutal weather" you must have only lived here for less than a year because you can SURVIVE IT HERE. You can't always have NICE WARM weather because KAREN thats what winter is for not warmth its supposed to be cold. We also HAVE FOUR SEASONS! If I must explain to you what they are it is Summer, Spring, Fall, and wow what a shocker WINTER. There is places for hiking and biking. It's called a GREENWAY. If you didn't find it thats just sad because there are signs in parts of town telling you were the greenways are. People who are "standoffish" are some of the nicest people. We have people of different races. We don't do anything you make people out of place. We HAVE RESPECT FOR PEOPLE KAREN. Also people don't "turn you down" if you have a abuse claim they will help, I would recommend CVIC because they do an a AMAZING job helping. North Dakota is place for people to come and FARM even go to COLLEGE. It's not a big city. From, a 15 year old girl. (Who seems to know more than you lmao #simp)
