Hope you got out by now! I am an Albany native who grew up there and could not wait to get far, far, far away and only go back to visit family. It is incredibly racist, from both sides, and the races have still not really integrated. I was 7 years old in 1979 when they FINALLY started desegregating the public schools. I have lived in Nashville, Dallas, and now Los Angeles and have never been as scared as I was growing up there. The economy is awful, the real estate market is non-existent. So many homes are abandoned and boarded up now because the population is dwindling. Some HUGE company should move to town, attract workers who want to buy homes at dirt price and help rebuild it as a new place. Short of something like that, I don't see it ever turning around.
