Review of Reedsport Ore,

I love this town, but can't afford it
Star Rating - 11/29/2006
I grew up in this town, and it is wonderful. There are so many beautiful parks and nature things to do, like walks, photography, playing in the creeks, dunes and ocean.
There's no movie theatre, fine shopping, or big variety of good restaurants. It's really hard to get good jobs here, or make enough to afford living here unless you can figure out something that is independent of these small towns. Many people here are very poor.
What companies that did move here brought their own workers.

A huge tip for outsiders that do move here: be patient and respectful with the shy & cautious residents. Whatever you do, don't assume these folks are ignorant hillbillies or that they are your servants. Southern-style Manners and behavior will help you a lot.

This was an excellent review. Now it’s 12 years later 2018 and I just moved here. Much of what was said remains true. It’s incredibly pretty. The town seems to be picking up the pace and there are great places to eat and get coffee. I think the towns emphasis on art is drawing people and this year they are even about to get their second brewery. The towns people are warm and friendly and always smiling. Strangers become friends in a moment. I’m a little worried about the cold and rainy winter coming but it’s better than being worried about a drought. This town may become the next Yachats once it’s discovered
