Review of Albuquerque, New Mexico

One scary city.
Star Rating - 3/6/2019
This is the most dangerous city that I have ever lived in. Crime is everywhere, 24/7. 4th most violent city in the entire country, number one in auto thefts, lord only knows how many car jackings, robberies, assaults, murders etc. Things get swept under the rug, and many things just go unreported my our esteemed police dept (who are still under a federal oversight program resulting from past policies of shooting first and asking questions later). I first came to the city in 1985 and thought I knew where the bad areas were.....wrong! It's almost the entire city that is under assault. As if that wasn't enough, the population of tweakers, heroin addicts, crazies, dangerous felons, etc is uncountable because it's so high. I do love the light, and the Frontier restaurant is a state treasure, but that isn't enough to keep me here. People are uneducated and not very friendly either, and if you dare to mention the crime they look at you like they don't know what you're talking about. That baby is ignorance!

WHAT??? You gotta be kidding. I am a retired MSGT and have lived in many cities including Tucson for 18 years. Tucson is the crime ridden city. I've lived in Albuquerque for 11 years and not 1 thing has ever happened to me or my family!! Quit being dramatic

The reaction from Enzo is typical of what I am talking about. When I mention the facts, which he agrees with, he then starts calling me names. You can expect a lot of this sorry attitude if you move to this city. For the record, I am a blue collar guy from the Mississippi Coast who and has traveled the world over, and when I say that Abq is a terrible place to live you better believe it! This is based on 67 years of life in many, many places..... ALL of them better than here. Coming out here was a huge mistake that I am correcting in a few months. I gave my notice in my apts and when people ask where I'm going and I say does it matter? How could it be any worse? It's the people, and it's definitely the locals, not the newcomers. They're defensive because it's a bad place, but as I said, come out here and see for yourself. Rude, ill mannered, aggressive, violent and stressed people live here. It's essentially a lawless place. The locals are the ones who CREATED this mess, and they like it this way. Those who won't live like an animal move elsewhere, so you end up w/ a lot of clueless people here who fall in love w/ their fantasies of what Abq is or could be. It is never going to change from the dump it is now because of the huge indifference and delusions of the populace.

WOW!!! You sound like a pompous, ignorant, small minded bellend. Why don't you get out and experience more cities and culture. Sure, Albuquerque does have one of the highest crime and highschool drop out rates. I'd like to see things improve and guess what they slowly are, dig into stats from .gov and edu sites and you'll see. The state of New Mexico from it's conception had a rocky start. But it's developing in the right direction now, the tech industry is slowly moving in, hands down some of the best food and I met some of the kindest people there. I guess that's what you get when a state has a rocky past without a silver spoon in their mouth like most Western States.

I 100% agree w/ Steve. Anyone that disagrees w/ him, doesn't know what they are talking about. I just move out-of-state from Albuquerque, for one reason only - the high crime.
