Review of Douglasville, Georgia

Change for the Worse
Star Rating - 8/6/2006
If you're seeking a peaceful, family-friendly place to raise your family, Douglasville would be a great choice- five or ten years ago. Incessant growth, much of it lower quality, has resulted in snarled traffic, increased crime, and overcrowded schools, many with armed guards (a new phenomenom for us). The local government is (a bit belatedly) attempting to ensure water quality and improve the quality of growth by managing home and lot sizes, causing developers to seek every loop hole in their desire to maximize profitability while developing every square inch. This past week I ran into a friend originally from here who had been house hunting in an effort to move back after an absence of eight years. After one day he concluded that his family would look "further out"; this thirty-year resident suggests you do the same.
