Review of Wappingers Falls, New York

Suburban living at its best
Star Rating - 6/14/2013
My family has lived in the village for 4 generations, myself for 22 years before I had to move away for grad school (and I'm eager to move back!). I absolutely love it there. The main street in the village is beautiful, with little shops and the waterfall the town is named for right next to a great park and historic buildings. With the Culinary Institute so close by, many of the former students live in the village and surrounding areas resulting in great restaurants. Shopping is close and convenient. Weather is great, not too cold in winter and not too hot in summer; worst natural disaster you'll experience is a rare two feet of snow (which is quickly cleaned up off the streets) or an inch of water in the basement. Lots of trees and big yards for most houses. NYC is an easy and scenic hour and a half train ride away, down the banks of the hudson river.
