Review of Pensacola, Florida

It may look nice, but think twice!
Star Rating - 2/26/2008
I originally moved to Pensacola to attend the University of West Florida. Upon graduating I couldn't find a job that would offer more than $9-$11/ hour without being obligated by signing a contract. The city itself offers nothing unless you are looking to retire and aren't looking for a career that offers stability and the possibility of you not having to work two jobs for the rest of your life. There is nothing fun for children to do and the only thing teenagers have to do is walk around the mall. Most of the university's professors are grad students and for those who aren't they are only there because they're tenured and are waiting to retire. In most of the college departments the classes are a breeze and the most you have to do to pass a class is show up and copy and turn something in. It may sound good to some, but not if you want to learn and are planning to become successful in whatever field of study. Competence is a major issue that affects the entire city and every entity that it is composed of!

born & raised in Pensacola... moved to Atlanta in '06..... yes Lord stay away. It should read: "If you're under 60 years of age, STAY AWAY!" ---------------------------------- After IVAN the Terrible. My family ended up homeless for a while. I was working to 2 jobs- 6 days per wk to bring in what I work 8-5 m-f to earn plus a little extra. Pensacola is not a place for young-middle aged people. It just isn't. It will always be homw, but I plan to only visit. Even with a degree you don't get what you should. That's just sad because Pensacola IS NOT a poor city. It is however a hoarding city. All it does is take take take. Taxes here-taxes there; cost of living is out of this world. I have found that there is cheaper housing in Atlanta. I live in an apartment here that is as big and beautiful as a house and pay less than what my rent for a trailor climbed to be in Pensacola. ---To anyone who is looking at this, trying to decide on whether or not you want to move to this place: Change your mind; don't even let the thought of LIVING in Pensacola cross it again. If you're living there and reading this: "RUN! Get out while you can. Go to a place where you can proper and be in good health. Because by the time you get through stressing over how to Survive in Pensacola, you'll have a Coronary, Stroke, or be on Meds for depression. Hear me and take it in. If you're under age 60, this is not he place for you.
