Review of Green Vall,

Unending opportunities to stay active!
Star Rating - 3/25/2013
Green Valley thrives on activity and participation. If anyone says they're bored, then they're not reading the paper or sticking their head outside. In a community of 25,000, there are 13 recreation centers and pools maintained by the Green Valley Recreation Association (GVR), plus many others operated by non-age restricted HOAs. The GVR offers more than 500 workshops, classes, clubs, lectures and concerts; branches of Arizona community colleges and universities have similar offerings. A separate arts organiation also has plays and concerts for the public. Some events are free; others are offered at much lower prices than you will find in large cities. And the quality is outstanding! For athletics, there are seven golf courses, and in March, the area sponsors "Senior Games"--short and long races (foot and bike), swimming competitions, table tennis, and many more. Walking remains one of the favorite sports, and there are safe paths through deserty areas along with paved areas that still offer opportunities for bird-watching and constant views of the nearby Santa Rita mountain range.

The best kept secret in Green Valley is its affordability: It is still possible to get a lovely livable townhome for well under $100K in a safe and attractive neighborhood. HOA fees are generally quite low and take care of outside maintenance and landscaping. All the residents are from somewhere else, and are eager to meet new friends.
