Ten years ago it was better. People from "down the hill" are moving up here due to housing costs south of here being unaffordable, and in some cases bringing the riff raff with it. The only jobs available are restaurants and retail. Many job postings state "bilingual preferred" or "required", frustrating those with skills in only ONE language. The wind blows trash ALL OVER the place adding to the already ugly, desolate desert atmosphere. Bodies are pulled from the aqueduct on a regular basis. Violent and property crime is on the rise, traffic is getting worse, and the drive down Main St. is starting to look like a 3rd world country, due to home made signage on businesses and homeless people sprinkled throughout. You can't go into a Stater Bros., Walmart, or 99cent store without being harrassed for money. There was a stabbing at the brand new Walmart leaving blood smeared on the floor in the front of the store, and a shooting in the parking lot. I live in a "nice" neighborhood by all standards and a man was caught on the roof 2 houses down, trying to break into their daughter's window while she slept. A family member had a car window smashed in by a joy rider who threw a beer bottle at it. Another family member's truck was parked on the street out front and was totaled at 2am one night after a person stole a vehicle and slammed into the truck. Graffiti pops up all over town. If you have to go to St. Mary's emergency room plan on staying 8 to 10 hours, and if you have Kaiser you will have to drive to Fontana where you will wait the same amount of time. My opinion is it's a horrible place to live, retire, raise a family, and the local community college is a joke with wait lists a mile high. I can't wait to leave.
