Review of Los Angel,

Crowded, Expensive and Full of Criminals!
Star Rating - 7/22/2017
I've lived here all my life and in the last twenty years L.A. has turned into an expensive slum. There are a few decent pockets, but who can afford them?.... My father used to tell me how nice Los Angeles was in the 1930's and I thought the 60's and 70's were rough, but they were nothing compared to now. It's getting to be just like in the movie "Bladerunner." This is my home, but I can hardly recognized it anymore. Welcome to L.A. the world's most expensive Third World Country!

The older you get the more you can compare a place you remember from a long time ago to what it's like today. A place like New York City got better in the 1990s for example than the 1970s. More livable, cleaner, less crime. Gotten too sterile for me these days, but has been generally improving over the decades, but Los Angeles in my experience has been steadily declining decade to decade. It's much worse now than it was 10 years ago. It's worse 10 years ago than it was 20 years ago. Etc. Getting more and more dirty, more more Third World and strangely more and more expensive. People from war-torn or significantly economically depressed countries/political repression can come here and have a better life but if you were raised in first world settings as most of us here in the US were, chances are you're not going to like it there. Maybe if you're very young, in your 20s it could be tolerable, especially if you don't mind being around 140 different ethnic groups whom you have nothing in common with. Los Angeles was not much until the 1920s. Two or three great decades during the Golden age and then the steady decline began. I wasn't around in the 1930s but I've read a lot and would've loved to have been around then. Must've been a great place to live. I was around in the 1980s though and as difficult of a place as it was then in many ways today it is 10 times worse in every way.

Amy, I completely agree and it's nice to have someone elucidate my sentiments exactly. In the last two years especially, it feels like everyone is in the "Matrix" living in "Blade Runner" scenery. Thank you for the solidarity...
