I have lived in other cities and towns within 120 miles of Smithland and nothing compares to this community. Nestled in the Missouri River Valley and along side Loess Hills, the scenery is amazing. Hills, trees, farm fields, plants and animals of all kinds make it a sight to behold each day. This is a tight-knit farming community where everyone knows and is willing to help each other. Friendly greetings and conversation will meet anyone at any location. But don't mistake us for "backwoods" or "hillbilly." We have all the latest technology and the skills required to work or live where ever we may want. We live here because we love it here.
Looking for a negative? Not much for teenagers to do. Great place to raise young kids, and teens old enough to drive often travel to neigboring communities for more entertainment. Those teens unable to drive can become a little bored. Even with that, I would rather raise them here than anywhere near.
