Review of Park City, Utah

Park City real estate in a bubble (2019), IMO
Star Rating - 4/28/2019
I lived in Park City for 6 years. Vail purchase of resort(s) and capacity reached in school system have caused a real estate bubble, in my opinion, with 500-1,000 per sq ft prices. Traffic and parking downtown are horrendous now. I've seen this movie before, it usually doesn't end well. Utah is a well-run state and will continue to grow but there are other attractive areas and places to look besides PC.

The whole country is in a real estate bubble (2019), with particular bubbleosity rendered to the "IT" towns/cities. A stucco toy house in Vegas that was `125 K in 2011 is now 500 K. Good luck to the guy buying now unless he's using someone else's money (speculators), air bnb cretins. Real estate musical chairs lesson: The last guy standing without a chair when the music stops loses.

Park City is really the BEST place to live for activities, dining, and entertainment. This is evidenced by growing traffic from daytrip residents who want to be in Park City but choose to live in less desirable areas and commute to all the fun. Thus when folks say refer to looking at other places, they don’t mean better places necessarily, they really mean “cheaper” places with less to do and more commuting (and polluting, and traffic) to enjoy the fun. Move where the action is and many of the related traffic issues will be reduced.

Public transportation is free and in top decile of country-wide programs. Park City is well worth the money and unparalleled for outdoor lifestyle. Other nice Utah places exist, but few with the world class skiing AND after ski amenities such as restaurants, Entertainment, and Theater.
