Review of California, Kentucky

California, KY
Star Rating - 8/12/2016
I live in rural California KY, in the southeastern most part of Campbell County KY, which is a diverse County. From the northernmost part, which includes many opportunities for shopping, restaurants, boating, & entertainment, to NKU (Northern KY University) farther south, & rural communities in the central part of the county. Campbell county lies along the Licking River, & the Ohio River. We are part of the Outer Bluegrass region, as well as the KY River Region of KY.

As for California, we are a rural community,of hills & valleys, with mostly farmers & farmland, local artisans & craftsmen, along with several local churches, Protestant & Catholic predominately. Mostly middle income area, reasonably safe, with good neighbors.

The main "city" of California, where the P.O. is located, lies along the Ohio River, & has less than 100 residents. Other areas included in California, are the communities of Mentor, (also along the river) Flagg Springs, Koehler, Gubser's Mill, Peach Grove, & other small communities. I live in the Flagg Springs area of California, which has a golf course (Flagg Springs Golf Course) & a full grocery & gas station, (California Marketplace) which also has hot food, & Amish Cabins, storage bldgs., etc. for sale to the community.

We also live in close proximity to the county park, (A.J. Jolly Park) with a large lake & amenities, - one of the largest county parks in the state. We live along a large creek (The 12 mile Creek) which runs through most all of California, & empties into the Ohio River. (KY owns most all of the Ohio River) There is a lot of fishing, canoeing, kayaking, etc. in the area, between the 12 Mile Creek, & the Licking & Ohio Rivers. Also, there are many horsemen in the area, that ride the local trails, along with bicycle trails, hiking, ATVs, etc. We are also plentiful in Fossils in the area, as we are in a glacial drift area, & people travel here from other states to explore.

We have a great number of doctors & dentists in our county, as well as a hospital, located in Ft. Thomas. There are also other small river communities, with marinas, close to California, KY. There are good job opportunities, mostly in the northern, more urban parts of the county, however there is some industry in the southern portions as well. We have one of the largest companies in N.A., (Lafarge) along the river in Silver Grove, KY. We have local elementary & high schools, both Public, & Catholic.

All in all, California,
