Review of Mansfield, Ohio

Gravely Mistaken
Star Rating - 11/29/2008
I just got home from Mansfield, Ohio. I have looked on your city's website frequently as I was contemplating moving there (my main attraction being your colleges).

First of all, I used a coupon that I got at a rest stop for Motel 6 on Trimble. The sign said "ALL NEW ROOMS"... There was nothing new about these rooms... The showerhead was extremely short (I am a 5'10 woman that had to do a backbend to shampoo my hair). The toilet was not even correctly connected to the wall because any time you sat on it made an unearthly sound, I could feel it coming away from the drywall. The room also smelled like cat urination, body odors, and cigarette smoke.

Second of all, I tried to find a place to get some dinner. I was exhausted from driving all day and I wanted to find somewhere that was fast. I went to the Domino's by my hotel. When the people from Domino's asked for my number I told them I didn't know what number to give them because I was out of town. The people at Domino's looked at myself and my family like we were from a different country and that is what we felt like. I had even went to the local Rite Aid and when I went up to the cashier I said "Hello, how are you?" The cashier said nothing to me....

I would think that coming from Detroit, MI that people would be nicer but I was gravely mistaken. After all of this happened I tried to find a liquor store so I could at least have a few cocktails but there were no liquor stores to be found...

When I talked to my fiance, who is a Mansfield, Ohio native I told him how rude everybody in your town was, and he, agreeing with me, said "Welcome to Ohio".

I had a great feeling about Mansfield after seeing your website, but now, after having been there, I would never visit again nor recommend anyone I know to visit your city.

Sincerely,

Kristin R.

So...you are basing your experience here on a chain low cost motel, a chain low cost pizza place and your inability to find booze? Maybe next time stay at the castle in Mohican State Park, picnic at Kingswood Gardens and then enjoy a spa treatment in a salon housed in an old bank. Afyerwards, eat at one of our fine downtown restaurants and enjoy drinks at our brew pub, upscale martini bar or in town winery offshoot. Then round off the evening with a show at The Renaissance Theatre before returning to your cozy room. You may have a better experience if you choose a better experience.

I lived in Mansfield OHio for 26...27 years. The people there are beyond rude. I hated living there and can not believe I wasted so much time there. You feel stuck when you're there and can't believe you stayed so long when you leave. do NOT MOVE TO MANSFIELD OHIO!!! PLEASE!!
