Review of Los Angel,

I Like Venice!
Star Rating - 10/21/2008
I moved to venice beach in 1990, bought a house in 1995, sold in 2005.
Of all the places, born New Zealand, lived Sydney, New York, I have lived Venice has the most fond memories and most profound experiences. It is a community of others. It is a community that pays no attention to who you are, what you wear, do for a living or who you live with. It is not white bread America. It sure as hell aint Republican, no way Jose. It is a cool place to live and breath and travel from and back to. For me, it is my spiritual home, just ahead of New York. I loved it, continue to love it, many of my closest friends live there. Artists move away, only to move back. The median house price is outlandish but that's the beach. It is unique in the world with it's walk streets and such. Abbott Kinney has somewhat morphed into Main Street USA, that is a bummer. Oh well. It takes one agressive real Estate Agent and so goes the class of what was. But I love it.
I live in New Zealand at the present time, however . . .

Great year round
While the LA basin cooks during the summer, Venice Beach is very nice pretty much all year...

venice good alternative to santa monica
as close to the beach, much lower housing costs and less restrictive building requirements...
