Housing and Population in Madera, Ca.
Star Rating - 4/11/2009
I live in Madera, Ca. and it has been listed in Sperling's BestPlaces as having a home medium price of $315,000 and a population of approx. 35,000. As an update to this, the current medium price is well below that figure now at approx. $225,000. I just looked at an older 2 bdrm, 2 bath house with a small 1 bdrm studio rental in back for $65,000. New housing tracts are offering new 3 bdrm, 2.5 baths for $165,000. The population was 35,000 in 1967 when I graduated from high school. The highway signs when entering Madera say the population is approx. 52,000, this figure fluctuating some with the large migrant worker population since Madera is located in the San Joaquin Valley agricultural one of the agricutural centers of the state. Weather can be very hot in summer with bearable cold winters. Most everyone shops in Fresno 20 minutes south and there are no chain restaurants except Denny's and Ihop. Again Fresno being our go to place for shopping and dinning.
