Review of Orangevale, California

Another comment from an Orangevale resident complains about the diminishing of rural character and the coming of compact development. Unfortunately, I cannot endorse such a simplification. Major transportation corridors bisect Orangevale, and unless development is compact enough to provide enough riders for transit, far worse than current development practices are inevitable. In fact, if we do not have compact development, the local Blueprint project predicts the Sacramento region will be *much* less rural. Compact development is the only friend rural living has really.

As for transit: The Folsom light rail stop is a short drive, or bus ride away. Unfortunately, Folsom and Sacramento Regional Transit do not coordinate their bus routes, so it's actually more convenient to drive to a park-n-ride than to take transit.

This lack of coordination is fairly typical for the Sacramento region, so Orangevale is no exception.
