Pros and Cons

I am going to give you a real view of Greensboro, NC. Many of the reviews on here claim that the city is either good or bad, but there are aspects of both. I have lived in Greensboro now for 10 years. I have lived up North and down South. So I am not bias one way or the other.
Pros of living in Greensboro:
Healthcare - The healthcare here is excellent. I have met and been treated by some of the best medical professionals that I have seen in my life.
Colleges and Universities -I have researched many of the schools here in Greensboro and have found their programs to be affordable and credible.
Cost of living - If you are looking for somewhere to live, where you can get a nice place on the low end, then this is the place for you.
Dining - The city has numerous places to treat your taste buds to. Chain and local restaurants offer great dishes.
Cons of living in Greensboro:
Jobs - if you don't have a good paying job lined up; this may not be the place for you. Low paying service jobs that will not keep up with your monthly bills. Job postings are numerous, but when you apply for a job; a month latter you will see that same posting again unfilled. Employers waste your time and gas calling you in for interviews; then lie and say they will call you back.
People - This is from my personal point-of-view and I cannot speak for others on this point. This also ties into the job situation. First of all, racism can be found all around the world, but as a black male I get some uneasy looks if I ask a Caucasian manager if they are hiring. I have lived in many major cities and small towns, but I have never seen a place with so many unfriendly people. There are exceptions, but in my opinion this is not a city of people who care for their fellow neighbors.
Artist - This is not the place for you if you are any type of artist. Go some where else.
Crime - Greensboro does have its unfortunate situations at times; just as any other large size city would have.
Recreation - I'm sorry, but I don't want to spend 2 to 3 hours driving to the mountains or the beach. I want my recreational activities in my city.
Events - Greensboro is a great city to have monthly events and festivals, but for some reason officials do not utilize Greensboro like they should.
Here is what I think if you are looking to move to Greensboro. If you have a good paying job lined up, want to be close to college and universities, want a quiet place to live, and decent shopping and eating; then move to Greensboro. Even better for retirees.
If you are young, a artist, looking for a city with a great job market with better pay and advancement opp., looking for a non-stop night life, or a place to mingle with individuals in your community, a city that host multiple events every year; then don't move to Greensboro, NC.
