As a resident of Houston, MS, I am acutely aware of the crime rates in my community. While it is still a relatively safe place to live in comparison to the national average, there is still room for improvement. According to recent statistics, the violent crime rate in Houston is 7.4, significantly lower than the United States average of 22.7. However, the property crime rate is 5.5, which is also lower than the national average of 35.4. While these numbers may seem promising, it is important to continue working towards reducing all forms of crime in our town to ensure the safety and well-being of all residents.
