Not easy for outsiders -
11/4/2008This is a close knitt community:50% Catholic,preponderently German(German - 40%,Norwegian - 11%,Irish - 8%,Swedish - 6%,Polish - 6%,English - 4%,French-3%,Black or African American - 2%),surrounded by a sea of mostly Nowegian/Swedish Lutherans, that is made of close networks of large families(search Google for Stearns County Syndrome).
It is easier if you are the same,more so if you are educated and having a good paying job.While some local minority liberals-there are some-will make a case for racism,I think they are for the most part wrong.This area's majority has been in minority in comparison with the rest of MN since it's beginings, and has lacked racial/ethnic/religious diversity until very recently-people just need time to get used.
2 neighbours and 1 close friend(originally from Twin Cities,Columbus,and Yerevan) have decided that they don't have the time though,so one is back now in Plymouth,another went to Austin,TX and one is moving to San Diego.
